Public Television Saving Tips
PBS Kids is the brand for children’s programming aired by the Public Broadcasting Service in the United States, geared towards children ages 2-7. They offer great educational shows, free online games and more. You can save money with these great shows and here’s how-
PBS is FREE! That is right- you don’t need cable to watch cartoons! We got rid of cable several years ago and PBS Kids is basically all that our kids watch. We had to invest in a $20 antenna that picks up local channels including PBS. This is a great way to save money, we have calculated that we have saved $730 a year (for going on five years!) since we ditched our cable bill. This is a huge amount of savings and it really adds up.
PBS Kids offers free online games that are very educational and offer a fun tool for learning. There are games from every show on the channel, including Wild Kratts, Curious George and more. The games range from very easy to more difficult but offer great learning opportunities.
If you have Amazon Prime, you can also stream many PBS Kids shows for FREE! This is another way that we save by not having cable and are still able to watch great programming. Amazon Prime also offer free two-day shipping, music streaming and more.
Some favorite characters are part of the PBS Kids line-up including Super Why (Wyatt), Curious George and Sesame Street. These character brands sell in many store, including Target and Kohl’s and you can often find a coupon or a great deal to use with these product so be on the lookout for super savings on these great children’s toys. We post the best deals on the blog or Facebook page so make sure to follow GCN for the top deals.
PBS Kids has a pledge drive each year to fund programming, support learning opportunities and more. They also sell a Children’s membership that offers discounts to are attractions, restaurants and more. To get this savings, make a donation to your PBS station or sign up for a membership and save even more at local businesses.
