Founded in 1902, Target started out as the Dayton Dry Goods Company, and later the Dayton Hudson Corporation. Target has over 1,900 locations in the U.S. and they employ over 361,000 workers. You can find just about anything at Target – groceries, pharmacy, apparel, seasonal merchandise, toys, sporting goods, electronics and much more. Consumers flock to Target for their great selection and competitive prices.
Tips for Saving at Target
Target is a favorite of many consumers because of their competitive prices, great sales and coupons. Take a look at all the ways that you can save huge at Target!
Manufacturer Coupons – Target accepts printable manufacturer coupons like the ones we have here at Grocery Coupon Network or manufacturers coupons from your Sunday paper, product packaging, flyers – just about anywhere you can find them!
Target Store Coupons – Target offers store coupons that can be “stacked” with manufacturer coupons to maximize your savings. Target store coupons can be printed from Target’s website, can be found in Target home mailers, Sunday Coupon Inserts and occasionally will be handed out in store.
Target Mobile Coupons – Your smartphone can be your best friend at Target. You can receive mobile coupons via text message from Target by texting “OFFERS” to 827-438. You can also request Baby Care specific coupons by texting “BABY” to the same number, 827-438. You can also find Target Mobile Coupons in the Shopkick App. These mobile coupons can be stacked with manufacturers coupons. Mobile coupons can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon, but they cannot be stacked with a Target store coupon.
Price Cuts – Look for yellow “Price Cut” signs in store. Price Cuts are regional and unadvertised and can be a nice in-store surprise, so keep an eye out. And yes, you can use coupons on Price Cuts
Gift Card Promotions – Another great way to save at Target is by taking advantage of Gift Card Promotions. Every week, Target has several Gift Card promotions that are advertised in the sale paper and are listed on the store tag. You can earn Gift Cards by buying specific products, and you can use those Gift Cards on your next purchase. You can coupon stack on Gift Card Promotions, and you can also “roll” your gift cards.
Ibotta App – The Ibotta app is a fun and easy way to earn real money just for buying your favorite products and you can use Ibotta at Target. Best part is that you can use a manufacturer coupon, a Target store coupon and Ibotta to really rack in the savings!
Savingstar – Use Savingstar at Target. This works similar to Ibotta. Purchase the product listed in your SavingStar account and submit to save! You can stack with coupons to increase your savings!
Cartwheel – Target Cartwheel is another great way to save. You can browse featured items, add them to your Cartwheel account, and then use your mobile phone to redeem your offers. Cartwheel offers can be used with coupons and Ibotta!
Target Red Card – Pay with a Target Redcard (credit or debit) to save 5% off your bill in store and online. When you use your REDcard at Target.com, your purchases ship for free, no minimum purchase. And that’s on top of the 5% savings you already receive just for shopping with your REDcard.
Clearance – Target always has something on clearance, and you can coupon stack on clearance items! You can always find couponers scanning the clearance endcaps or hanging out in the toy section in January waiting for the big 70% price drop. And it’s well worth it – many gift closets get stocked for the year from the January toy clearance, so always keep your eyes peeled for those little red clearance stickers!
Price Match – Target will Price Match if you find the identical item for less in the following week’s Target weekly ad or within seven days at Target.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, BestBuy.com, ToysRUs.com, BabiesRUs.com or in a competitor’s local printed ad. And yes, you can still coupon and coupon stack on a price match!
Reusable Bags – Take $.05 off your bill for each reusable bag that you bring in and use at Target.
Shop Early in the Week- Target starts their sales on Sunday. It is best to shop early in the week, especially if a item is on sale. You will have a better chance for the item you are looking for to be in stock.
Shop End Caps – Check end caps for unadvertised clearance items. Target marks down its clearance in increments – 15%, 25%, 30%, 50%, 75% and 90% off this varies by department.
GCN Blog – Let GCN do the couponing detective work! We are always checking for the latest deals, price cuts and coupon stacks at Target and we post them on our Target blog. Check back daily to see what’s new, and always take a look before you head off to Target, you never know when the next great deal will pop up!
