Coupon Tip: Plan Ahead
As couponers, we do a lot of planning. With this tip, I am not talking about planning for a shopping trip later in the week or planning what you’ll have for dinner but I want to remind you to think about things you might need throughout the year, to help your family save. Sometimes, things you wouldn’t buy for yourself or your family could be something that could be helpful for a particular event, guests you are having or easy ways to save.
Some ways you can plan ahead:
- Think about what restaurants you eat at and see if they have a holiday bonus deal. Right now, Homemade Pizza (a nearby restaurant) is offering a gift card bonus. That’s an easy, well-liked family dinner that we treat ourselves to very occasionally. If I know we are going to eat there anyways, I should purchase the gift card now to get the extra money for free. Plus, they may have a special I can use the gift card to purchase to save even more.
- Look for deal site deals to save and always check expiration dates! We recently had family in town and I was able to feed 6 adults and five kids with gourmet pizza (all organic and farm ingredients) and salad because I bought vouchers several months ago, using a coupon code and got $80 in vouchers for only $20!
- Buy your wrapping paper, decorations and other items at a holiday discount. Pretty soon, holiday clearance will start and you can pick up items for pennies on the dollar. This can mean food items too that you can use but may have a holiday theme or color. You’ll also be set for next year!
Set yourself up for savings next year by planning now. Look for great deals to help you start your year off on the right foot.
