Double Couponing in Rhode Island

Double coupons are the incentive grocery stores looking to up their foot-traffic give to shoppers, doubling the value of the coupon by taking it out of their profit margin. For shoppers these can be a godsend, for many grocery stores it can be a little more gray.
Many stores out there can't risk the deficit of the double discount and don't double coupons. Some have all the foot-traffic they could ask for and hence don't need to offer doubling. This is why some areas and state's might not offer much in the way of double coupons.
Fortunately the relatively small size of Rhode Island might make it possible for shoppers to travel to nearby stores in Connecticut or Massachusetts that double coupons. Of course, driving an hour to do so, and spending the extra money on gas
, not to mention risking the carton of ice cream melting along the drive, might not be the best solution for saving money.
And it might be that while your local grocery store doesn't double coupons, they do have a saver or rewards policy that can be used to help foster savings. Check with your local grocery stores and see what kinds of programs or events they offer to help maximize your savings.
Stop & Shop
are the only major chains in Rhode Island that currently accepts double coupons. Both stores accept double coupons on manufacturer coupons up to $0.99 and only up to four "like" manufacturer coupons can be used at a time. Items exempt from double coupons include cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets and other items barred by state law.
Jerry's Supermarket in West Warwick doubles coupons up to $0.99. In the Westerly or Jamestown areas, shoppers can use double coupons up to $0.99 at McQuade's Marketplace. Check both stores' coupon circulars for additional deals.
While there might not be an abundance of double couponing stores in Rhode Island, that doesn't mean there aren't opportunities for savings. It might require a little more planning or strategizing, but the savings are out there.
As there aren't very many double couponing options it Rhode Island, shoppers will have to investigate other alternatives to save. Stacking coupons can be another great way to save
in areas that don't have double coupon policies.
