All too often I find opened packages of food that have been left unattended or improperly sealed for some time.  It is never a happy thing for a frugal mom to find things that she worked so hard to save money on in such a state of abandonment!  Frugal moms – I am happy to tell you there is still hope!  Here are a few random tips on how to make right any food that has gone wrong.  :)

  • Hard Foods Gone Soft (aka stale food)
    (Cereal, Hard Cookies, Crackers)
Bake for no longer than 5 minutes and remove from the oven and let cool.  Reseal in packaging and they are once again edible!
  • Soft Foods Gone Hard
    (Cookies, brown sugar, etc.)
Throw a slice of bread inside of the container/package and seal up overnight.  Remove in the morning and voila! You have newly restored soft food.
  • Brown Bananas
Don’t throw them away in frustration – freeze them and make them into banana bread later or use for fruit smoothies!

May your kitchen be restored to a state of freshness after following these simple steps!
