BOGO - or, buy one, get one - offers are common coupons that provide great opportunities to save on items that you buy in quantity.
The details of each offer will vary, but in some way, BOGO coupons allow you to get a discount on a second item by purchasing the first.
Often this means you get the second item for free, but not always, so read the terms of the coupon closely.
BOGO coupons can be either manufacturer or store coupons.
It's important to know which type you have, because stacking BOGO coupons can allow you to dramatically increase your savings.
If you determine that your BOGO coupon comes from the manufacturer, pay attention to whether the coupon has a maximum value.
If the maximum value that the manufacturer allows for the offer is more than the current price, you will have to pay the difference between the two.
If, for example, the maximum value is $1.99 and the purchase price is $2.99, you will only get the $1.99 discount and will have to pay the extra dollar.
If you happen to find BOGO coupons from the store and the manufacturer for the same items, it is possible to apply both to the purchase.
If the offer on both the store and manufacturer coupons entitles you to a second item free after purchase of the first, you can receive both items for free by applying both coupons.
Look at the store's coupon policy to be sure that this type of stacking is allowed.
You can also apply dollar-off coupons to both items in a BOGO promotion if you have stackable coupons of the proper types.
This allows you to receive money off of the entire purchase even if you are only paying for one of the items.
For example, let's say that you have a BOGO coupon from Kroger which entitles you to a free orange juice when you purchase one.
If you have a manufacturer coupon for $1.00 off the same item, you can apply two of them and save $2.00 on your total purchase.
This may feel a little strange, but don't forget that the stores are reimbursed for the value of the manufacturer coupon, so they are not losing out on the procedure.
