Mr. Clean was introduced by the Proctor & Gamble company in 1958 and within six months, it quickly became the best selling household cleaner on the market. It was created by Linwood Burton because he needed a product that could clean ships without being too dangerous for workers. He had a fundamental knowledge of chemistry, and was able to create a product that was successful at cutting through grease and grime without posing a danger to employees, thus cutting down on disability claims. Today, the Mr. Clean line consists of much more than the household cleaner that made it famous. The Mr. Clean line now includes Magic Erasers, Multi-Surface Liquid Cleaners, Sprays for Kitchen & Bath, and new Liquid Muscle, which is ready for really big jobs in a concentrated bottle.
